Which fictional character is your favourite?

fictional charactersOne of the things I love most about reading is the characters that you get to meet. If you are anything like me, there are many that you wish you could meet in real life.

As a writer, one of the most exciting things is creating the character and getting to know them. Eventually, you hear their voice in your head and they become your friends.

Fictional characters are like having imaginary friends except you can get away with having them even if you’re an adult.

I would love to meet Harry Potter (or if I could be transported into that world then all the better.) I’d also love to have a girlie chat with Bridget Jones and Elizabeth Bennett (so we chat about Mr Darcy of course.)

Which fictional character or characters are your favourite and whom would you like to meet and why?

I’m Laura. I started Novel Kicks in 2009. I wanted a place to post my writing as well as give other writers like me the opportunity to do the same. There is also a monthly book club, a writing room which features writing prompts, book reviews, competitions, author interviews and guest posts.

I grew up by the sea (my favourite place in the world) and I currently live in Hampshire. I am married to Chris, have a cat named Buddy and I would love to be a writer. I’m trying to write the novel I’ve talked so much about writing if only I could stop pressing delete. I’ve loved writing since creative writing classes in primary school. I have always wanted to see my teacher Miss Sayers again and thank her for the encouragement. When not trying to write the novel or writing snippets of stories on anything I can get my hands on, I love reading, dancing like a loon and singing to myself very badly. My current obsession is Once Upon a Time and I would be happy to live with magic in the enchanted forest surrounded by all those wonderful stories provided that world also included Harry Potter. I love reading chick lit. contemporary fiction and novels with mystery.

  • I think it has to be Skeeter from The Help. This was the first ever book I read on Kindle and I absolutely loved it Skeeter was magnificent – her own woman at a time when the expectation for middle and upper class white women in the deep south was marriage, babies and charity work. She was tough, holding her own with what appeared to be some of the most spiteful and bitchy women around. She was also very brave in the way she went about befriending the maids and working with them to get the book published. And of course she was compassionate, seeing how unfair life was for the black population and trying in some way to help them. A good all round heroine!

  • Charlie Rooney says:

I have always thought it would be great to have a conversation with Elizabeth Bennett, Jane Austin’s books were the first books I read for pleasure rather than being forced to read at school, I think if I hadn’t enjoyed them as much as I did I wouldn’t have been so keen to read novels by other authors. Therefore Elizabeth Bennett is my favorite fictional character, mainly for her gumption and quick wit but also for introducing me to a wonderful world to escape to 🙂 she also provided the inspiration for my daughter’s name!
