Novel Kick’s Book Club: The Gift by Cecelia Ahern

It’s December! It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the last month of 2021.

I know it’s been a bit of a strange year. I am really determined to find my Christmas spirit though.

December is my favourite month. Beautiful lights adorn buildings.

I get to have an advent calendar (which you’re never too old for.)

I can play Christmas music as much as I like and I finally get to put up the Christmas Tree, watch Christmas movies and most importantly sit down with my favourite Christmas themed novel.

Cecelia Ahern creates such magic in her novels that I get completely drawn into them. I’ve always loved this novel but over the last few years, it’s gained new meaning to me which is why it was chosen for this month’s book club.

The Gift by Cecelia Ahern follows Lou Suffern who wishes he could be in two places at once. His constant battle with the clock is a sensitive issue with his wife and family.

Gabe is the homeless man who sits outside Lou’s office. When Lou invites Gabe into the building and into his life, Lou’s world is changed beyond all measure.

A Christmas story that speaks to all of us about the value of time and what is truly important in life.

Blog Tour: Lyrebird by Cecelia Ahern – Review

Welcome to Cecelia Ahern and her blog tour for her new novel, Lyrebird which was released on 3rd November by Harper Collins.

Solomon is part of a documentary crew. He, along with his girlfriend, Bo and their colleague Rachel, return to the farm of a set of twins (that have previously been subjects for one of their documentaries) for a funeral.

When exploring the area around the edge of the farm, Solomon finds Laura hiding in the woods. Laura has been living a solitary life. She’s such a secret no one knows she exists. They discover that Laura processes an extraordinary gift and soon, they have taken her back to Dublin.

Can Laura adjust to life in a big, loud city or will she feel even more trapped?

First of all could I just take a moment to gush about the cover of this book. It is beautiful. I loved the fact that when this book arrived, it came with very pretty feathers. Now I’ve read it the feathers make more sense but they were pretty all the same.

This book was so easy to fall into. It didn’t take me long to read as I couldn’t stop reading. There is something about Cecelia’s writing that just draws me in. There’s such a magic to it. Where Rainbows End still remains one of my favourite novels.

The plot is interesting and explores themes like the pitfalls of fame and reality TV, love and trying to discover who you are.

My Five Favourite Books For Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. I am not against Valentine’s Day although I am usually so disorganised, I end up joining the people who go to the shop to collect something last-minute. For me, it’s a perfect excuse to avoid all the overcrowded restaurants and to curl up with a book instead (especially as this year, my husband is at work.) It was hard to pick but I wanted to share five of my favourite love themed books that I think are perfect to be reading over this weekend, especially on the 14th itself.

P.S I Love You by Cecelia Ahern.

Holly has a guardian angel; her husband Gerry who has recently died of a brain tumour. Letters from him mysteriously appear giving her advice and teaching her how to move on. This book is such a beautiful love story for me and is perfect for February. This is the book where I fell in love with Holly and Gerry and with Cecelia’s novels. There is just something magical about this story which is why it is in my top five favourite love stories and will remain there for a long time.
