*****

I do love myself some festive fiction and A Little Christmas Magic was just that, magic.

Made up of a series of short stories, there is something for everyone in this book. All of the stories were heart-warming. Some were a little sad but had a positive message at their heart.

Poppy’s Christmas Wish is the first story in this collection and it’s a strong start as it doesn’t take long to tug at all the feels. It features Lauren, Mike, Poppy and Kitty the cat.

Last Minute Dash is one of the shorter stories in the collection and tells the story of a man, a woman and a chance meeting.. When I started to read, I immediately got Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses in my head.

Driving Home For Christmas was next. There was something about this story that just screamed ‘the magic of Christmas.’ Nigel is struggling to make a last minute delivery before he can go home to his family. He meets Fred and Betty and they help him find his way.

The Honeymoon Period was also a favourite. Elowen and Stan have just gotten married and have travelled down to Cornwall, The imagery and how the setting is presented was so lovely and it has me wanting to read about Elowen in her full length novel that’s coming soon.

A Christmas Toast was the one I empathised and related to the most. Cathy, Harvey and Jane are preparing to celebrate Christmas with husband and dad, John looking on.

The Last Train Home was also one of my particular favourites (not that I disliked any of them.) Athena and Hot Book Guy, Elliott find themselves in a taxi office and start talking. It’s a portrayal of a lovely first meeting between two people. I am hoping that hasn’t given too much away.

The Wrong Post was the penultimate story and continued the excellent standard built throughout this collection. This one was about connecting with unexpected people and I loved it.

Finally, Taking Care of Belle featured an elderly lady called Grace, her home help, Kate, a neighbour named Jack, a Maine Coon called Gus and a Collie named Belle. I loved this story and would very happily read a full novel with these characters. This story, like its predecessors was warm, festive and left me feeling happy.

This tour featured the book via Audible. The narrator, Colette Davies-Kerwin, was wonderful. The recording was clear, read well and I didn’t want this book to end to be honest. It’s a great medium to consume this book. You can have it going when wrapping presents, preparing decorations or as you’re getting ready for bed.

Over all, this book was fantastic. It has me completely feeling the Christmas cheer. This audio book is a compelling, warm set of stories to read in December. I am so pleased to have discovered this author and these short stories. Loved it.

(Thank you to Audible and Rachel’s Random Resources for the advanced access to this book in exchange for an honest review.)

About Suzanne Rogerson –

Suzanne lives in Middlesex, England with her husband, two children, a crazy cocker spaniel and a rather aloof cat. Her writing journey began at the age of twelve when she completed her first novel. She discovered the fantasy genre in her late teens and has never looked back. Giving up work to raise a family gave Suzanne the impetus to take her attempts at novel writing beyond the first draft, and she is lucky enough to have a husband who supports her dream.

Now an author of four fantasy novels, including the Silent Sea Chronicles trilogy and a standalone fantasy, Visions of Zarua, Suzanne has recently turned her hand to short stories with four collections published to date.

She loves gardening and has a Hebe (shrub) fetish. She enjoys cooking with ingredients from the garden and regularly feeds unsuspecting guests vegetable-based cakes. Suzanne collects books, is interested in history and enjoys wandering around castles and old ruins whilst being immersed in the past. She likes to combine her love of nature and photography on family walks, but most of all she loves to escape with a great film, binge watch TV shows, or soak in a hot bubble bath with an ice cream and a book.

I'm Laura. I started Novel Kicks back in 2009 as I wanted a place to discuss books and writing - two loves of my life. As someone who has anxiety, these two things give me, and I am sure countless others, a much needed escape.
There is a monthly book club, writing exercises, prompts, reviews, author interviews, competitions and guest posts. I cover many genres and I hope there is something for everyone.
I grew up by the sea in Dorset and currently live in Poole with my husband, Chris and three cats. I love writing and have a BA (Hons) in Creative Writing from Falmouth University. I am writing my first book. If only I could stop pressing delete. Chris has threatened to stop it from working. Haha.
I have always loved creative writing since I was in first school and would very much like to meet my teacher, Miss Sayers, to say thank you for all the encouragement she gave me then.
When not writing, I love reading, cats, Disney, singing (I can't sing but this doesn't stop me,) and falling into a good TV show or film. If I could step into any fictional world, it would be amongst the characters in ABC's Once Upon a Time.
I love reading many genres and discovering new authors.
