Novel Kicks Fiction Friday: Universal Message

Novel Kicks Fiction Friday: The Last Conversation

Welcome to Fiction Friday, our weekly flash fiction challenge.

Here’s how it works:

Set a timer for five minutes and start writing

Keep going for as long as you can once the timer goes off

No editing allowed—raw writing only

When you’re finished, feel free to share in the comments (but there’s no pressure)

This Week’s Prompt: The Last Conversation.

You discover an old voicemail on your phone from someone you haven’t heard from in years. The timestamp doesn’t match any phone records you can find. When you listen to it, they’re apologizing for something—something only you would understand—but they sound like they’re speaking from somewhere very far away, or very long ago.

You have 48 hours before the message automatically deletes forever.

What do you do? And more importantly… who was really on the other end?

Remember: There are no rules except one—don’t stop to edit. Let the words flow. Your goal is momentum, not perfection.

Happy writing. See you in the comments.
