Book Review: An Unconventional Affair Book 2, A Risk Worth Sharing by Mollie Blake

This second part of An Unconventional Affair finds Barrington Stone working in Australia for a year. Tranquility “Tee” Hammond, fifteen years his senior, has ended their affair, but for Barrington it was never over. He can’t wait for the year to pass to go back to her. However, after a drunken encounter, with a woman he later discovers is a sex worker, his life is changed forever. How can he possibly leave Australia, now that he has a daughter?

Tee, also brokenhearted finds comfort in the arms of an old friend, Sebastian.

Years later, when Barrington returns to the UK, Tee doesn’t know how to handle it.

Sebastian also senses the threat.

Can Tee and Barrington be together again?

Having not read book one, I was a little concerned that it would make this book harder to read. It was not the case. It was easy to catch up with what was going on with these characters at the beginning of book two (although reading book one will obviously give you a better idea of their history.)

Tee is a strong female character and knows what she wants. She has been through a lot and it is clear that she is frightened of getting herself into vulnerable situations.

It was Barrington I found the most fascinating. He is a complicated character and makes both good and bad decisions, like all people. He’s flawed in many ways but also good.

There are many layers to this book. There are erotic moments yes but there is also romance, suspense and page turning moments with many themes explored.

I personally really enjoyed this book; interesting characterisation and development being one of the main reasons. There are plenty of twists and turns, bittersweet and happy moments. It’s very much worth the read.
